Bethany Elston


Mrs. Elston graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas A&M in 2006. She earned her Masters in Academic Administration in 2011 and has been involved in education since 2002. She was employed by Belton ISD and Katy ISD before becoming a homeschool mom. Mrs. Elston joined BCA in 2019 when her children were all old enough to enter school.  


After teaching in a conventional school for several years, Mrs. Elston felt convicted to find an educational method that taught all subjects in an integrated format, would make Jesus the center of all topics, and would restore the love of learning to the students and the teachers. This pursuit led her to discover classical Christian education.  Mrs. Elston is passionate about the classical Christian movement and has a desire to make disciples for the name of Jesus.


Mrs. Elston lives in Katy and has been married to her husband, Todd Elston, since 2007. Together they are raising their 3 children.  She is interested in swimming, reading, playing in the dirt, or anything that allows her to be in God’s creation. Most of all she is a strong believer in Jesus Christ and simply cannot get enough of His Holy Word. Mrs. Elston is active in her local church and has a passion for spreading the Gospel through missions. BCA is blessed by the experience and passion Bethany brings to our wonderful school!

Jessica Birkmire


Mrs. Birkmire graduated with a degree in Communications from Texas A&M University (2000), received her Master’s in Education Administration (2010) and is currently certified by the State of Texas as a Principal Grades EC-12.  She has 15+ years of teaching experience and holds a teaching certificate in Language Arts/Reading & Social Studies 4-8 and Speech grades 8-12.  She and her husband Joe live in Katy and have five sons.  Jessica believes her passion for education comes from the Lord who continues to give her opportunities to serve Him.  She finds joy in encouraging and supporting teachers and staff, working with students, building relationships with parents, and maintaining positive partnerships with BCA’s education organizations as well as the local school district.   Jessica and her family have been involved with BCA for many years in different roles.  BCA has been a blessing to Jessica’s family!

Christina Neumann


Christina Neumann graduated from the University of Houston, Summa Cum Laude in 2004.  She began her teaching career soon after.  She has 15+ years of teaching experience in an array of schools: public, inner city, private, and classical.  She is excited to be back in the classroom as a first grade teacher! She loves watching the awe of God's creation and the joy of learning grow in her students.  "Education is an atmosphere, a discipline, a life." -Charlotte Mason


Christina and her husband Ken, along with their 3 children, live in the Cypress area where her husband is the pastor of their church. 

Monika Reeves


Monika Reeves was born and raised in Germany.  She came to the US where she met her husband and they have been living in Katy, Texas for the past 25 years.  She has two grown sons and 3 precious grandchildren. 

After taking a break from the workforce in 2012 God had a different plan for her life and led her to Bible Study Fellowship.  Within a year she was serving in the Children's program and loving every moment of it.  While not looking for a job God redirected her path again In January of 2020 and led her to BCA where she can combine her years of office experience with her love for children.

Sarah Head


Sarah Head grew up just north of Houston in Spring, Texas and graduated from Texas A&M in 2000 with a degree in Mathematics and a minor in Sociology. She worked for an HR Outsourcing company for several years before deciding to stay at home with her boys. Sarah and her husband, Vim have lived in Katy since 2011 with their three sons.  The Heads are members of Church of the King where they both serve faithfully. Two of her boys attend Berean Christian Academy and she is honored to serve the school that has been such a blessing to her family. 

Curtis Brown


"Curtis Brown is a U.S. Army Persian Gulf War Veteran that served in the U.S. Army for 8 years.  Curtis now is the Founder and President of The Curtis Brown Foundation which helps our struggling veterans and their families overcome life's struggles after their service for our country.  Curtis is also a radio show host for KKHT FM 100.7 THE WORD for the show "Battlefield Connections."  Battlefield Connections is a show that focuses on stories of overcoming through life's obstacles through the love of Jesus.  Curtis also has a YouTube channel called "Beyond The Battlefield" which focuses on overcoming struggles through the love of Jesus also.  Curtis has been blessed to build relationships with numerous celebrities along with several state and federal leaders that have also shared their stories on his shows.  Curtis also authored the Amazon's Best Reads book "God Is Bigger" with New York Times Best Selling Christian Author David Gregory.  Curtis has overcame numerous challenges by God's grace.  Before coming to BCA Curtis taught at LWCS in Rosenberg for one year and then became their Athletic Director.  Curtis also teaches the Battlefield Connection Connect Group at Sugar Creek Baptist Church.  He is truly in love with Jesus and God's Word and loves to teach it any opportunity that he gets.

Curtis lives in Richmond and has been married to his wife Heather for 15 years and they have one fourteen year old son Micah who attends the 8th grade at BCA.  Heather loves to decorate and study God's Word and plan all family events.  She loves to get involved in the Christmas lights at Pecan Grove and encourages our community by sharing the love of Jesus.  Micah loves basketball, video games and building friendships.  We are so blessed to be a part of BCA and we are truly excited to see what God has in store.  

Ashley Wallace


Ashley Wallace graduated from Texas Christian University in 2005 with a Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting. She lives in Katy, Texas with her husband, Cameron Wallace, and her five children - Emily, Austin, Luke, Violet, and Kenzie. She enjoys serving in the women's and children's ministry at her church, party planning, advocating for orphans, and serving others. Her passions are Jesus Christ, upholding the sanctity of life, pouring God's Word into her children, traveling, and spending time and being festive with her family.


Caitlin Maxey


Originally from East Tennessee, Caitlin has always had a passion for teaching and investing in the next generation, and even had the opportunity to co-teach with a Montessori trained teacher with 4 and 5 year olds throughout her college years. Caitlin later became the Preschool Programs for Children with Disabilities teacher in La Grange, TX, before moving to Katy, where she was a Special Education Resource Teacher with Katy ISD for three years. Caitlin has happily spent the last four years as a stay at home mommy to her precious children. 


The Lord moved in mighty ways this past year to bring BCA into the life of Caitlin’s family and she is thrilled to have the opportunity to use her passions for learning through play and for sharing the gospel with our children to teach Junior Kindergarten. 

Caitlin has been married to her husband, Mark, for ten years, and together they are raising their three beautiful children: Eleanor, Huck, and Lucy. Caitlin loves to knit, curl up with a soft blanket and a good book, and spend copious amounts of time outside watching her kids play. 

Nicole Black


Mrs. Black knew at a young age she wanted to have a career in education. She attended Texas State University and after graduating in 2005 she began working in Hays CISD where she taught 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and dyslexia intervention. In 2013 the Lord blessed Mrs. Black and her husband with their first son. After much prayer, she left teaching to be a stay at home mom and her family moved to Katy. During her time at home, Mrs. Black served as a children’s leader at Bible Study Fellowship and in various roles within her church.


Mrs. Black has been married to her husband for 9 years and they have two boys. She is passionate about God, His Word, and carrying out the Great Commission. Mrs. Black considers it a privilege and an honor to pour God’s Word into children raising them up as disciples who follow Jesus!

Debbie Shoquist


Debbie Shoquist grew up in Wisconsin and moved to Katy from East Texas. The Lord found Mrs. Shoquist "floundering" as a freshman in College which began a wonderful journey!  Mrs. Shoquist loves children and has raised five of her own, one son and four daughters, all happily married and blessing her with 14 grandchildren!


Mrs. Shoquist has spent most of her years teaching Sunday School, children's Church, Choir, VBS, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and serving as a Pre-school director at her Church. Additionally, Mrs. Shoquist has 12 years teaching experience in 3rd, 2nd, and Kindergarten in public school. She attends Second Baptist Church in Katy and enjoys teaching in a Christian School where God can be freely honored and glorified!

Sabrina Wu


Sabrina Wu grew up in Taiwan and realized she had a love for teaching when she was in the college. In 1999, she came to the US to get her master degree of MBA in University of Dallas. There she met her husband, Tuck and they have been married for 15 years.  They have two sweet kids, Ianna and Ethan. Ianna was diagnosed with PDD and ADHD in 2010 and Sabrina made the decision to homeschool her daughter and enjoyed teaching her. In 2013, they moved back to Malaysia and Sabrina had a chance to teach special needs children at a Christian school for one year.  During this time, she learned that different kids have different abilities and with patience we can help each child to grow according to its best abilities. She started asking God to use her in a place where she can help to bring out the best in children. 


In 2018, the family moved back to Houston. Sabrina was still homeschooling her daughter and waiting for God’s timing and plan. In 2020, God prepared a special need school for Ianna and Berean for Sabrina. God said: Be strong and courageous, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.  Praise the Lord that Ianna can learn well at her school and Sabrina can serve HIM without any worry.  Berean is a blessing in her life because she is working with a team that is passionate for God. God continues to guide her where she can help and who she can pray for in Berean. 


Cara Kneisly


Cara Kneisly was born in Houston, Texas and raised in Porter.  She's as Texas as they come.  After high school, she attended Stephen F. Austin State University graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Education.  She met her wonderful husband, Craig, while teaching at Houston ISD. They have been married for more than 20 years and have two wonderful children.


Cara loves children of all ages.  If you ask her which grade she enjoys the most, she can't give you an answer.  She would teach the whole school if she could squeeze it into her schedule. 

Christi Elkins


Mrs. Elkins is from Mississippi and completed her Bachelor's in Education at Delta State University. Along with her degree, she holds several endorsements and licenses in various education specialties, including diverse classroom instruction, reading and literature, history, music, and a Kagan philosophy of education. Mrs. Elkins has taught for over 5 years, in various grades, and looks forward to many more wonderful years at Berean Christian Academy. She is a member of Kingsland Baptist Church, along with her husband and son.

Amy Peeples


"It is an honor to teach at a school where we can proclaim the name of Jesus!  It is my prayer and hope that we honor Him in all that we do this year!  Our classroom verse this year will be Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, and not for human masters”.  This verse will be the backbone of all we do.  May we dedicate each day to Him and glorify Him in our learning, discussions, and in our work ethic!!"


Mrs. Peeples is originally from Katy and a graduate of Baylor University with a Bachelor of Science in Education.  She taught both 2nd and 3rd grades in Fort Bend ISD and Katy ISD for several years before staying home.  She is an active volunteer at her church, Second Baptist Church.  She has taught 4 year old Sunday School and also lead 2 and 3 year old praise and worship.  She truly believes that the Lord led her family to Berean and is thrilled that He has called her back to the classroom.

Christina Saenz


Christina Saenz graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising (1992) and a Master of Education (1997).  She taught third grade in Katy ISD for several years before deciding to stay home to raise a family.

While serving the Lord in the Children’s program of Bible Study Fellowship for the last 6 years, Mrs. Saenz realized that God was slowly preparing her heart to go back into teaching.  After prayerfully searching for just the right place for herself, God led her to Berean Christian Academy.  Mrs. Saenz looks forward to not only educating the next generation, but most importantly, sharing the love of Christ with her students.

Mrs. Saenz lives in Katy with her wonderful husband, David.  They have been married for over 20 years, and have three children, Ethan, Isabella, and Jonathan.  They are members of Grace Fellowship UMC.

Monica Kilgore


Mrs. Kilgore was born and raised in Yorktown, Texas, a very small town in south central Texas.  She was raised by parents with strong Christian values and they did all they could to instill those values in their children. Monica graduated from high school in 1976 and attended Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas majoring in elementary education with a minor in reading. After graduation in 1980, she began working in Fort Bend I.S.D. and remained with the district for thirty-three years.  In 2013, she retired from public education, felt called to teach in an inner city Catholic school where she taught for 5 years before coming to Berean.

Chris Naumann


Chris Naumann grew up in Bryan/College Station. As the 5th of 7 children in a strong Christian family, he found God at an early age. His parents put him in a private Christian school that taught Chris to love God and laid the foundation for a strong relationship with Him. Later, to further his spiritual growth he attended the Texas Bible Institute. He graduated from the Art Institute with an Associate Degree in Applied Arts.

He now lives in Katy with his wonderful wife, Amanda, and his two beautiful daughters. He is plugged into a local church where they have served in the nursery and VBS. Chris worked as a graphic designer for 15 years until he took time off to be a stay at home dad and homeschool his daughters. During this time, he found a love for teaching and working with children. He has since taught art classes from K- 8th Grade.


Chelsea Denzler


Chelsea Denzler is an educator of the humanities. She holds an A.A in Liberal Arts for Lonestar College, B.A. from Houston Baptist University in Great Texts, which is Ancient to Medieval History and Literature studies, and an M.A. from Villanova University in Classical Studies with a focus in Latin. She has taught a variety of subjects at the secondary and college level including: Ancient and Medieval History, Religion, Logic, English, Latin, Spanish, and Music. Mrs. Denzler is currently enrolled in an online seminary program to study Apologetics with Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Jeff Wyers


Father of four grown children. Graduate of Houston Baptist University with B/S in Psychology and Christianity. M-Div from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Pastor of "The Church at Tree Lake in Waco, Texas. Saved by the Grace of God and always in awe of the fact.

Jackie Risinger


Jackie Risinger grew up in Houston and attended the same small Christian school from Kindergarten through 12th Grade.  She and her husband, Mark first met each other in that school when she was in the 9th Grade and he was in the 11th Grade.  They now live in Katy with their three children, all of whom proudly attend Berean Christian Academy.  Jackie received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Baylor University and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Texas A&M University.  After only a very brief time spent practicing, she and Mark decided to restructure their lives so that she could be a stay-at-home mom instead, a decision which they have all found to be incredibly rewarding.  The Risingers are members of West Houston Bible Church where they have attended for the past seven years.  Both Mark and Jackie serve regularly in their church in different capacities.  Jackie is grateful for the privilege of serving the wonderful students of Berean Christian Academy every week!  She hopes and prays her class will be enjoyable for the students, and that she can point them back to God as they learn about His gift of music.

Laura Thompson


Laura Thompson has been teaching P.E. with the Berean Christian Academy family since its beginning. She enjoys having the opportunity to identify certain needs at our school and adapt the P.E. curriculum to those needs. Ready Body Learning Minds is an example of a sensory program that helps develop the skills necessary for learning readiness and mastery of the environment and cultivate the whole child's learning.  In addition to teaching, she also loves to learn. Laura is studying towards a Masters in Biblical Counseling at Dallas Theological Seminary. It is a passion of hers to walk alongside people on their quest to reflect God’s image to the world. BCA is a place where her children’s faith in the gospel is challenged and strengthened as they wrestle with their doubts and galvanize their beliefs. She believes it is a privilege to be on this journey with the Berean team whose mission is to draw near in service of each other and the community. Laura's children, Ben and June, both attend BCA and her family loves being involved at the school. Laura and her family live in Richmond with their 3 dogs, Riggins, Rosie, and Roo. They love to play outside, grow a garden, and ride bikes together.
